not quite sure if this will help but you might want to disable 3rd-party toolbars (e.g. Google or Yahoo toolbar) if you have any by going to Tools>InternetOptions>Advanced and uncheck "Enable third party browser extensions"
whenever logging off or shutting down the computer, i get an "end program - layered hidden window" with an option to either cancel or end immediately. well, it's not the most irritating factor to using the box, but i came upon the real culprit behind it and have no clue …
I just realized that I had Cookies, History, & Temp. Internet folders within the Temp folder (C:\DOCUME~1\XXX\LOCALS~1\Temp). This seems a bit strange, since these folders are currently present outside the Temp folder as well in their otherwise "normal" location. So I rebooted into Safe mode & deleted the folders in …
There are two suspicious dll files for which I would like an explanation -- LogonDll.dll (Winlogon notify) & streamhlp.dll (this one I have no clue). Having queried Google, I came up empty. These two don't look legitimate, & I have no idea where they slid in. My hijackthis log follows: …
For the first two days the NAV 2004 was installed, I was able to scan without a glitch -- but now nothing happens (same applies to the right-click > "Scan with Norton Antivirus"). However, although nothing happens, you can see that navw32.exe appears in the Task Manager each time the …

However, you can manually edit the SYSOC.INF file, which is located in the C:\WINDOWS [or your Windows XP directory]\INF folder by opening it with Notepad. Under the [Components] heading, you'll find a …
I'm usuallly working with about 5 apps on a continual basis. Is it possible to open all of them simultaneously by opening just one (ie. by opening MS Word, the spreadsheet, DB & other apps also open)?? Thx in advance.

For example, is it possible to link spam-filter (POPfile) and YahooPOPs! to Outlook Express so they can all be opened simultaneously when Outlook …
Recently I moved IE favorites from the administrative account folder into the "All User" folder hoping that it could be shared among different users. Unfortunately, I (an administrator) cannot see anything in my favorites folder. Could anyone advise?

Are you having problem accessing just this one website in question or with the Internet in general? What browser are you using? First, check to see if the HOSTS file doesn't have Heritage Quest as one of its blocked list of entries. To locate Hosts file, use the Windows Search …
if you're redirected to another website rather than your intended site, then i would say your internet settings have been compromised or hijacked. use spybot s&d or adaware (in my case, i use both) to find whether you hav cyberscums and vermins lying in your 'puter. also u might want …
I have no problem surfing the internet in general. However, I cannot access certain websites, including both secure and nonsecure zones. My initial reaction was to check whether there were any associations with the HOSTS file, but no trace of their IP is there to be seen. Since then I've …
