Re:
the fdisk command is not available for Windows 2003
That's because you need to boot to a pure DOS environment to use fdisk.
Re:
I get an"Invalid Boot.ini file booting from C:\windows" message when starting up . I use WIN XP. I have done a search for this file which shows 0kb as contents. The computer boots up after this message but I tried to repair or reinstall win xp but because of this …

Re: Far, far, far, far, far too long every day. I leave here (work) to go home and play games, surf more, download gigs upon gigs of stuff, then sleep only to repeat the cycle.
Re: So you're running a normal OS, and VM'ing two other ones at the same time? That's putting some pressure on your hardware for sure.
Re:
...Of course, if your son is knowledgable about computers, he may already know how to reset a BIOS password jumper. My Advice: Have a BIOS password. Have a Windows password. Lock the keyboard in a gun safe when it's not being used, and lock the door of the room containing …
Re: You'll need a network bootable disk with smartdrv on it. Boot, map a network drive to a share containing the installation files, execute "smartdrv", change directory to i386, then "winnt". That's the basic rundown. If you're unfamiliar with DOS commands, it can be very confusing at first, but I can …
Re:
Hmmm... take this suggestion only as a suggestion. I'm sure that someone else will be able to respond in more detail. I have no idea why you're running into this problem, but whenever I've needed to reformat (I used to do it quite a bit) I would use Linux. Again, …
Re: Yes, 11Mbps. You answered your own question. To reuse an old adage, "A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link."
Re:
try checking the processor I had a PIII 450 come up with no video and I pulled the cover and my processor was lose
AMD's are all sockets, I doubt it's that. Sounds like a power supply issue, or something could be grounding out. Take everything out of your case …

Re: My first box was an Acer. My sister owns one as well, for whatever reason. I haven't really heard anything bad about the Travelmates, but you may want to price out a comparable system with HP or Dell. Just go to their websites and use their online configuration tools, or …

Re:
Ive been looking at other threads in this forum and there are discussions of kernels. I don't know anything about this, what are these?
They don't apply to you. Try an older version of the Detonator drivers. 31.08 sticks out for some reason, or maybe it's 41.09.
Re:
RTFM ....
man man
....ect,ect......
Wee...no one should have to man command for everything. When I want to install a fourth window manager, I should have that option, without it being cryptic. pkginstall isn't cryptic, but that's because we know it. Re: I wouldn't be male if I didn't enjoy talking about cars. Computers, mainly networking and system tweaking. And while there is always something to improve upon with a system, you can be entirely too anal about some things. Example: memory timings, temperatures, and raw speed in general.

Re: What happened was that XP setup wrote a new boot sector, pretty much erasing any existence of a plain vanilla 98 installation. You can't really do anything about it other than format and start over, along with an fdisk /mbr before you reinstall 98.

Re: Yeah, water + electronics don't mix. You just don't get involved with water cooling unless you're absolutely sure you could stomach your system having the chance of being completely destroyed. That said, cooltechnica.com is one of the better sites to get your materials from.
Re: If you're on a network, it's much, much, much simpler to copy the disk to folder, share it out, and install the software from the network. No need for a cd as you can set permissions on a share (or hide the share completely - share$ is wonderful!) so no …
Re:
Go to device manager and remove the drives and reboot computer to reinstall the drivers for the cdroms
Yup. And this may be a long shot, but have you fiddled with the jumpers on the back of the drives?
