This is a tricky question because generly you should install windows before you install linux, as windows likes to think its in charge. And if you are using the whole parition for linux already I am not sure how or what tools are avaible for changing linux parititon sizes.

Try Tools > Internet Options > Temporary Internet Files > Settings > Make sure check for newer version is automatic or every visit.

the system volume folder is a system folder that i belive is always in use, you shouldnt be able to access it as it contains infomation about how the drive is setup and the partition and such, messing with it would be a bad idea

You can put as much ram in as you wantm in any differnt sizes (within reason). I would suggest either 2x 256's or getting 1 512 and adding it to your current machine, make sure you get the same clock speed:)

FAT is an older filesystem that has 2 versions FAT16 and FAT32 Windows XP can use Fat32. However if your going to be installing XP i recomend you use NTFS, which is a much better FS overall, as it adds alot of secutiry that FAT does not have.

YaBB is perl, which means tons of chmoding and text based files. Perl is a hell of alot harder to modifiy for someone new. not to mention its a huge server resource compared to a smaller phpbb vB or IPB
