you are using simple file sharing.. sorry can't help. you need to switch simple file sharing OFF, and work from there. much more secure and reliable - but NTFS required.

if it's set on automatic, it will always be started. never stop. if it's set to manual, it may stop if it's not needed anymore, and start again when it is needed again. also it depends on the service - what is it's name?
