According to Xbox website, you cannot connect to internet this way. See this http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/connecttolive/xbox360/default.htm From Xbox site: "The Xbox 360 console supports only the Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter and Xbox Live Compatible wireless-to-Ethernet bridges, routers, and gateways bearing the Xbox Live Compatible logo." Just buy Xbox WiFi adaptor.

Since this is a workplace problem, the system administrator is the person to sort it out. The information you require is the SSID and the encryption password to enter into computers' WiFi adaptors. Note that these have to be entered correctly and are case sensitive.

Log into router using 10.0.01 and you'll find under Lan settings or similar that you can change router's address to 192.168.1.1; don't forget to check that subnet mask is still255.255.255.0

You did not say if your network is part WiFi; this other group may come via WiFi if you have poor or no security.

belkin network starter kit (f5d9001) is no longer available; maybe that's why you were given it. Just get suitable router for networking and internet access.

Try simple solution. Use DHCP on router to allocate IPs to PCs and make sure that on each PC that ethernet card is set up to obtain IP by DHCP.

Can we define your PCs? PC which can see wireless networks is Acomp and other one is Bcomp. Acomp is working ok since its WiFi card can detect Wlans. If your router has a problem, dealing with it via WiFi is difficult. Use Bcomp and check/set up router via ethernet; …

You could try installing Online Armor firewall which shows programs and their connection. More than just a firewall; has HIPS and Program Guard.

When you say simple dial-up connection do you mean you are NOT on broadband? If you're not on broadband, sharing connection is not recommended. If you have broadband just buy suitable WiFi-router/modem; I use Belkin G+MiMo.

Open network connections; check that wireless is enabled and ethernet is disabled and any other card such as firewire. then you can right-click wireless to check for networks.

You really only have 2 choices and they do not include your BUFFALO router. 1: connect laptop and pc via adhoc connection and use ICS to share internet connection 2: buy WiFi router/modem and have a proper WLan; Speedtouch make a good one. We all learn by our mistakes.
