it says this article does not exist. and before hiring any seo to work on your site dirt cheap you should read this ;) http://www.search-marketing.info/newsletter/articles/shitty-seo.htm
adwords and overture are generally the two must dos... their roi depends on site and industry. with few sites and clients I see better roi at overture on some and adwords on others. additionally findwhat might be ok for some sites too, but I always start out with adwords and …
I have talked to muliple forum owners who told me they launched using adwords and adsense. you have to spend a bit off the start usually to make it back later. another option is to ask a few friends to post there and maybe give them free ad space or …
lots of sites are blacklisted all the time. common ones linking out to shady sites 302 redirect errors people redirecting their penalty at your site buying too many highly visible off topic links
unethical SEO techniques
very few SEO techniques are unethical... the ethics tag is marketing speak for the search engines. search engine manager: "crap that stuf undermines our algorithm and make our ad business looked overpriced. what should we do?" another search engine manager: "frame it as being assoicated with email …
good for finding various versions of words for ppc ads and the like. the results also take search volume in as an input.
>robots.txt its a text file that sits in the root of your site and tells robots not to index certain parts of your site. this would disallow cgi bin tmp and private User-agent: * Disallow: /cgi-bin/ Disallow: /tmp/ Disallow: /private/ more info at http://www.robotstxt.org/wc/robots.html >So how do I alter things …
all of them are just going to depend on industry and demand. the nice thing about overture or adwords is that you are not locked into a $500 buy right out of the gate and you can quickly learn from and retest your marketing to make it grow constantly smarter …
I think Overture has different interfaces / logins / accounts for the various different regions they serve for example, I advertise on Overture for "seo book". my seo book ad does not show on their UK site http://uk.search.yahoo.com/search?p=seo+book
most pay per click accounts start off with a few winners and a lot of bad bids or terms in them...it is just an issue of learning from the feedback your account gives you.
odds are your base authority level may not be that high if you only have links from a few sites. perhaps building more linkage data from a wide variety of sites will help improve your rankings
if you need simplicity and are primarily doing ppc I am told www.conversionruler.com is decent. some other popular web based ones keywordmax clicktracks (also has a log file analyzer program if you want) indextools
link swapping is trading links. most link swaps are sketch as few people do most of the link swaps using numerous low quality sites. there are lots of fine details to link swaps, although they do not have much to do with pay per click advertising
they only charge you when you get clicked on or when your account is underperforming they charge a $5 reactivation fee after the second one I think. the excellent and at risk ratings went away a while ago.
Google's link: - they only show a small sample of known linkage data...it has always been that way with google. as far as contain the term it just finds pages with that text. some will be links and some will be unlinked mentions.
it should be hard to lock in click through rate as they will vary some unless they are kept constant by automated click fraud or something.
linking off to resource sites can improve your hub score, but a large part of the algorithm is anchor text. related sites also pass greater credit due to algorithms like hilltop.
it saves negligable time and spies on you. no reason to use it IMHO
>Any ideas? mod rewrites? threads about them?
many directories that "only trade links" also sell them to some people or are owned by people involved in SEO who list their clients sites.
from what I have seen it is usually better to spend time finding more niche keywords to run on Google and Overture before spending too much money on tier 2 PPC search engines.
when you're chatting around the water cooler and someone mentions any of that intentionally deceptive pablum to you as a reason why Google is such a great company, why don't you also tell them that those same three "miserly" executives- Eric Schmidt, Larry Page, and Sergey Brin have quietly sold …
I think it does sometimes but not always... like when John Scott moved his forums to a new domain they took a bit of a hit. also 301 redirects surely will get abused a bunch more going forward. I think on same domain they should have a tendany to usually …
lots of sites just disappeared with the last update. best not to make drastic changes but to continue building links. some people think Google is using latent semantic indexing on inbound anchor text.
I think I got 1-5 and a 7, but I dont much track it... would like to get an 8 just because thats hard... but it may be nearly impossible with my current site format
many times people think seo is all they need, but it helps to also work hard to establish brand. seo services do not work well for every business model but they work well for most if you find the right person
the sig link does not appear until you make ten posts. the meta keywords tag is best used for alternate versions not in the copy or common misspellings. many SEOs no longer use them.
in 2003 they updated it only a couple times. for a long part of 2004 they updated it like about once a month.
PageRank is logarithmic and displayed on a rather course linear scale. large changes can occur without the display changing much.
>1) Never pay more than $6,000 for optimization of 20 keywords for 12 months. That's total cost. If you come to a total higher than that when you add in "maintenence fees" or any other such silly fees, you're paying too much. totally disagree. some sites require that much spend …
it certainly is more than just what competitors are doing. think google started doing some latent semantic indexing.
the current algorithm often has many sites not ranking for their own names. if that is intentional then Google is being a wee bit hypocritical on the make useful content for the users front.
Overture has a good network size, but your techi theme and audience is more likely to search on google than some of the other search sites...its the same reason why I sell a ton more of my ebooks from google than other search engines... the audience appeals to that user …
some of the regional search index will give a boost to sites which - are hosted in the same geographic region -or- - have the local extension -or- - have lots of links into or out of their site to other local sites
many times the changes in search results and rankings have more to do with algorithm tweaks than they have to do with what we do to our sites.
>Given what I have read about how google figures rankings, how do these sites do so well? powerful links pointing at the root of their site maybe? >server/ip search engine can check and discount whois data or ip address or link patterns
those were probably overture affiliate ads you saw for overture.
think it got renamed to adbright. they are going to do different for different sites, but the nice thing with adbright is that you can target your ads to be served on one specific site.
>1. On one board someone said that Google is just doing this to get our information. What do you think? they can certainly learn how to target and sell ads better if they know the results of them. its not a completely free offer. you are giving them valuable ad …
this cross compares overture and word tracker http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion/ and google search suggest uses search volume to help organize results http://www.google.com/webhp?complete=1&hl=en another option is to set up a test campaign and bid enough and use enough budget to ensure your ad will constantly show on said search results. many keyword siggestion …
to me the goal of content for most sites is to hopefully inspire linkage. keyword rich only matters if you dont have something that would naturally want to spread. once you have a well marketed product and brand you can write for people and they will do a large amount …
msn and yahoo are actually far easier to do seo for than google is. msn is like candy from a baby right now. bulk low quality links from a wide variety of sites using mixed keyword rich anchor text links really helps you do well in MSN and Yahoo!. I …
The End.
