Go to Control Panel, then Network Connections. Go to your Network Connection icon, right click on that. Click the Properties option from the dropdown menu. Then, click the Advanced tab. Next, Make sure the ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) option is checkmarked.

maybe they kicked your stealin' self off the network
My monitor has a degaussing feature, that I believe demagnetizes the electronics within the monitor that have built up static charge after time. Look at your monitor options using the buttons on the monitor, and there should be the degaussing option there. Try that maybe?
