i am not familiar with java servlets, but i doubt in following line: req.send("catalogId="+ encodeURIComponent(catalogId.value)); i think it should be like this req.send("catalogId="+ encodeURIComponent(catalogId.innerHTML)); please let me know if it works or not..:)
