Looking at the partitions on the 2nd screen cap, I seriously doubt that this was a DVD/DVD drive issue. This looks more like something to do with the partitions going awry. The "System Reserved" and "Boot" paritions are created by the OS when installed and are usually hidden and should …

You're saying you're trying to activate Office Home and Business. However, the screen shot you've posted shows Office Professional Plus installed. Remove Professional Plus and install Home and Business. The program should activate then.

While changing the graphics chip on a laptop is more toward chip level, you can confirm your diagnosis by running your hardware verndor provided diagnostic program. That should run a stress test on your video card and if it fails, will report the problem.

What's the email message format? Rich Text? HTML? Try sending a plain text email and see if the issue persists.

I think we're going a bit too far about installing a game on DVD. Have you actually installed a game on a DVD before?

Considering you deleted it a month ago, you can be pretty sure it's deleted permanently. Not even a file recovery app will help you recover the file now. Sorry dude.

oh, once you're done clearing the startup tab, click on the services tab and check the box "Hide all Microsoft services" and click disable all there too. Then try restarting the computer. But yes, I'd always recommend a format/reinstall.

Try powering the system without any RAM modules. If the board gives any beep(s) then the board is fine. Next, take any one RAM stick and plug it into the slot and then turn the system on. If this doesn't work, then put the stick into the other slot. Keep …

Need for Speed: Most Wanted has the free roam option where you can just take in the sights. However, if you bang too many cars or buildings, the police come looking for you. But that doesn't happen often.

I still suggest that you convert your filesystem to NTFS (if it isn't) and then use the NTFS access permissions to grant users access. I never like installing additional software to do something that can be done as well using built in Windows tools.

I'd say it depends on the nature of the crime. If the criminal has done something violent, like murder or bodily harm, with the intent of doing it again, he should be imprisoned indefinitely. If he rapes a woman, he should be forced to undergo hard, rigorous labor for atleast …

Sometimes, resetting the CMOS can help. Remove the CMOS battery and leave the mobo for 10-15 minutes. Re insert the battery and see if this helps. Some models may have a CMOS reset jumper. Try to short this jumper and the CMOS should clear itself. Else, as nizzy suggested, check …

First off, I noticed that when you enabled DHCP, your IP address was set to 169.254.245.101. An IP starting with 169.254.x.x is an "Automatic Private IP Address" (APIPA). This is a temp IP assigned to your network cards when your DHCP server fails to allot an IP address. Since your …

Well, you can simply delete the old installation after you boot into your new installation. To get rid of the choices you get... I'm assuming you installed your old installation on C:\Windows and new on D:\Windows. Open C:\boot.ini. There, you will find some lines like multi(0)\disk(0)\rdisk(0)\partition(1)\Windows="Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect.... multi(0)\disk(0)\rdisk(0)\partition(2)\Windows="Windows …

You'll need to do this from a DOS window (obviously). Once you get to a DOS Prompt, type the following commands. [B]C: <enter> cd …

well, for future reference, I've seen this problem getting fixed by running a chkdsk on the drive. In your case, you have to run chkdsk /f C: from the command prompt. When asked if you wish to run the disk check on the next restart, choose yes.

First off, JohnnyBopps and col, it's against the forum rules to post your problems onto someone else's thread. It dilutes the attention that can be given to one problem, and lessens the chance of you getting personalised attention. That said, PBSKid, you could use an external temperature sensing device to …
