The problem with phpBB is that it's so popular that it draws a lot of interest from hackers. I've used [URL="http://www.phpforumscript.com"]PHPForumScript[/URL] - it's quite good, but lacks the PM feature that need.
Are you referring to constructing the SQL query string based on user's selection of which field you want to search in?
