Adwords and Yahoo PPC would be great to start with, as traffic is instant, but a lil costly. If money is a problem, you can build SEO links, and work on article marketing.

Email marketing would come after SEO, it is a way to capture visitors and guests into a list. It is very cost effective when done right.

if you are looking for free and something to start out with, id recommend a blog or wordpress. joomla is also pretty good. Also check out Interspire website publisher. You can find them through one of the links in my signature.
if you are serious about your web business, you should invest in the long term with an ecommerce website - your own online clothing store.
you also want a good business plan and market research data prior to shopping around for software. Talk to experienced ecommerce developers and do lots of research.
many people including designers and web pros start businesses like these. they buy a domain, add a site and some value, and then flip! i would stick to a niche type site and sell that way.
ppc is highly measurable and can be very profitable, although the click costs have soared due to huge corporate budgets.
