The HP DV series laptops are well known for graphics failure. It is down to a combination of poor design and poor manufacturing quality. If it is still under warranty then get it back to HP as a proper repair can be very very expensive.

I'd say you have no choice but to take it to a professional for diagnosis. It's most likely that an internal surface mount fuse has blown as this is quite common. Unless you are an expert on surface mount components, I doubt you will be able to find and replace …

If you have one, try a different monitor. If you don't have a spare monitor see if you can borrow one for a day or 2. What exactly have the repair shop done to your computer?

Is it a laptop or a PC? What windows version are you trying to install? Why are you trying to install? Are you trying to get a different OS on or did the previous one fail? If it failed, any idea why? We need more info in order to help.

There's a good few infections showing in your log. You should run mbam on it. https://www.malwarebytes.org/ then post it's log in this thread.

The most common cause of a problem like that is the capacitors on your motherboard, check to see if any of them are domed or leaking. If any are then they need to be replaced.

If you have the equipment, you need to take the hard drive out of your laptop, connect it to a usb adapter and test it with another computer.

Dell's cannot be cleared via the cmos battery. You have 2 options. 1- Contact Dell and be prepared to prove ownership of your laptop. 2- Take it to a repair shop and have them replace the security chip with a blank one. This can be expensive.

The first thing you should do is check your hard drive for bad sectors. Hdtune is a good tool for this, get the free version. http://www.hdtune.com/download.html

I will give that a try tomorrow. I have a laptop with 7 on it in my workshop that has an admin pasword on it. It was put on by the son of the owner and the son either doesn't know the password or won't say what it is.

It is entirely possible for one device to have a problem and the rest connecting fine to be caused by the router, I have seen it many times. Before you play around with the router's settings, try doing a hard reset on it. You should find a recessed reset switch …

Press F8 during startup and select safe mode with networking and see if you can connect to the net. If you can connect, download Mbam (google will easily find it), update it and run a full scan and get it to remove all it finds.

The most common cause of your problem is infection and infections can easily infect restore points. What antivirus and antimalware software do you have and have you scanned with it recently?

You need to remove the hard drive and test it on another computer with hdtune via a usb to sata adapter. Google will easily find hdtune and sata adapters are nice and cheap these days.
