A slight faliure in Mobo can result in failures, but does ur pc directly go shutdown screen if so reinstall windows.
u import file from ur cpanel / mysql/ phpmyadmin and first u create db name than username , than put that user u created into that db and than connect via phpmyadmin and import the sql to ur db .
Were there any bad sectors on old 40 gb hdd ? and did u do disk copy or partition copy?

Cause u have not purchased that domain u cannot just make a name and call it domain and put a .com after it you have to register so go register it first.
is it rpm -u or rpm -i command? i think its rpm -i command but rpm -u command also exists? And redhat has its own builtin apache but you can update it using rpm as suggested.
if u want to run website on ur pc and has sql and requires php than u need to download sql server and php also. Best solution is to get webhosting from hosts.
