for instance you could start advertise on your market. example ( Uk , engines ) and try defend your competitors by making competitive link building!;)

yeah i belive that for the moment social bookmarks is offering good results!
submitting them to top 25 articles directories SERP will grow. also google it's allwasy in look for new and fresh content, so you can do 50-50% with the articles!
i bealive that social media has a benefic thing when you need to advertise something fast. all the "old"methods of seo are now lit bit in competition with all kind on new updates..
