yeah if u r having too many pc`s better go for DC u check default gateway not dns does other pc`s can acess this if yes try to chnage ip or system name
make sure u configured router properly ping for router only to ur isp dns or yahoo, google. or check r internet properties may be u r using some proxy.
i have also same problem. i have proxy address which my isp provide me with username and passowrd. everytime i have type that which annoy me. and username and password which i tried that is for online form or mail not for the proxy. can anyone help me in this …

cross cable is enough main thing is u have to give ip and seems u r not connecting to that lan card which u configured. or my be u have disabled that lan card.
