u cannot upgrade the xp to windows 7 all u have to do is to install it the windows 7 by removing xp-- create a partion on the harddrive.. and install the windows 7 there .. it will take a while because u have a huge size of hard drive …

i highly reccomended to stop using the system because we do not know the extent of damage if the system have warranty u can use it to get a new but if doesn't just buy a new one.. don't put your self at risk =))

press f8 before going to windows and choose option pc repair and select pc restore.. =))

all you have to do is call dell and ask them to replace the system because u cannot do anything.. probbly the one causing the problem is the mother board...=)) but if u still have the warranty they can replace it right away.. chill and relax
