I would recommend you to use an ASP.NET control like FileUltimate for this purpose. It can handle multiple file uploads and abstracts all browser and server limitations for you.

How about using already built controls like FileUltimate?
During my research, I found FileUltimate to be the best ASP.NET contro for handling uploads in your web site.
