I'm beguinning to work with images too. I found this about using alpha channel in php images: $imgPng = imageCreateFromPng($strImagePath); imageAlphaBlending($imgPng, true); imageSaveAlpha($imgPng, true); It seams without this, alpha will be ignored and the background will be black.
