"Find (in BIOS) the "USB Legacy Support", make sure it is set to "Enabled" That's rather curious advice because the official fix from Seagate & Western Digital, (and the advice from most people who've fixed this problem) is to set "Legacy USB Support" to DISABLED. You're saying exactly the opposite!

I found this: How do you create a permanent cookie? Posted in ASP.Net Interview Questions If u want a cookie which never expires set it's "Expires" property equal to "DateTime.maxValue". Example:
<% Response.Cookies("username") = "you" Response.Cookies("username").Expires = Date.MaxValue %>
I upgraded my Vista laptop from 1GB ram to 2GB ram. The crucial.com system scanner tool says I now have 2GB installed ram, but in Control Panel-->System it says the ram is only 1,790MB. So why the discrepency of 210MB?

Could be a flat CMOS battery causing the BIOS to 'forget' all the parameters for the hard drive. Go back into the BIOS and see if there is an 'autodetect' feature you need to activate in order for the hard disk parameters to re-appear in the BIOS data. This data …

Not qualified to analyse your HJT log so I won't pretend otherwise. leave that to a trained helper. But I can tell you that "Windows Virtual memory is too low" message is not malware. It's a genuine Windows message which means exactly what it says. You need to increase the …

Power up the PC and immediately keep tapping the F8 key at a rate of about once every second. It should pause at a black screen/white text, with the heading "Advanced Startup Options". Use the up/down arrow keys to select "last known good configuration" and press [Enter] key. Hopefully, Windows …

I understand your reluctance to re-install Windows but in this instance I agree with Dell. If your reluctance is mainly because you've got files you didn't backup, take this as a lesson learned the hard way.

You cannot format an extended partition since it has no drive-letter assigned to it -- it's simply a 'container' for a 'logical partition' (or several logical partitions). These logical partitions are assigned drive-letters and can be formatted.

Disk contents are probably corrupted. Suggest you do a full recovery if you only have recovery CDs, or boot from a 'proper' Windows CD, delete the existing Windows partition, then re-install Windows on that unallocated space.

The length of time it takes for Windows to be "usable" is mainly determined by the number of items that are set to load with Windows. Startup time can therefore be improved by keeping an eye on this ever-growing list. Many programs you install (or have been pre-installed) often puts …
on second hand computers NEVER BUY A SECOND HAND COMPUTER. EVER!!!!
That's bull, my friend. Over here in the UK there are many families using secondhand computers quite happily. They don't want or need the latest 'all bells and whistles' powerhouse system for a bit of photo-printing, some word …

Delete them all from the 'quarantined' area of AVG -- don't use AVG so can't be more specific. Just go through AVG's settings and options till you find the quarantined section. Delete all. In future, when your antivirus finds any infections it's best to always choose 'Delete' if it's offered. …

Bought it new only 3 weeks ago? This sounds like no quick-fix problem to me. I would contact Dell and ask them to rectify or replace it. It's still under warranty and they are responsible for seeing it has no serious problems in that time. You shouldn't have to come …

It's not always the 'Delete' key to get into the BIOS setup, could be one of the F keys, so try them instead. When the PC starts you normally get a message at the bottom during boot-up, saying something like "To enter setup press XX" where XX is the actual …

Thoughts?-- only that I am well aware (as you may be) that you are by no means the only one (far from it) to have come unstuck with SP2. Some of those people have had to admit defeat and not use SP2 -- opting instead to make do with SP1, …

My daughter's buying me a 17-inch for christmas. She's willing to get me a 19-inch but I looked at a couple and decided they are way too big to be sitting only 2 feet away from it. I currently use a 17-inch CRT so a even a 17-inch TFT will …
